Looks like a fantastic read. Right now, my son is 17 but very hard to handle sometimes, withhis strong will. I like the focus of the book that we as parents should be looking at
the REAL issue, which is often hidden. Totally listening is a great skill that takes a lot of discipline to
learn. Thanks Jillian!

What Children Really Want From Their Parents Jillian Burkett 9781257105694 Books Reviews
This is a very insightful book on the intricacies of raising kids throughtout their childhhood. The information is helpful in that it can be used on specific problems that we face raising our kids, and maybe even the mistakes that we see other parent not avoiding. I highly recommend this book, as it gives us a framework on how to raise healthy children into adulthood.
In an age of suffocating Tiger Moms and stifling Helicopter Parents, Jillian Burkett delivers a parenting book whose advice actually makes sense and can actually be followed by regular parents. Written in the same easy-to-read, but chock-full of-information as her previous boo "Working with Difficult to Reach Youth, Ms. Burkett provides extremely helpful guidelines for working with those sometimes most difficult youth we know - namely, our own children.

Another excellent book by Ms. Burkett. This time her audiences are all parents especially new ones. Every expectant parent should read this book during their pregnancy. Babies r Us would do well to have the book on the shelf, right next to the baby journal. It would make the perfect gift for a baby shower. The second half deals with older children. So it will be a help to all parents. It's amazing the knowledge she has gained form working with children all these years.
This is a very easy to read book discussing important questions relevant to parent-child interactions. The author deals with the important topics of self-esteem,structure and limitations, responsiblity, safety and sexuality as well as other topics of major concern to parents.
Utilizing her extensive experience as a counselor, working with children and parents, the author outlines specific and well formulated steps that parents can take to raise their children to be successful adults.
